Pine 9 Holsters Introduces the JettyHawk™ Fishing Rod Holster: A New Generation of Hands-Free Rod Carry

Pine 9 Holsters has officially announced the release of the JettyHawk™ Fishing Rod Holster, a newly engineered model designed to support larger rods, heavier gear, and demanding fishing environments. The JettyHawk expands Pine 9’s lineup of wearable rod holsters and introduces several structural upgrades compared to the company’s Ambie model and its original hand-crafted holster line.

The new model focuses on durability, stability, and compatibility with a wider range of fishing belts and rod types while maintaining the fast access and ergonomic carry Pine 9 holsters are known for.

A Reinforced Platform for Larger Rod Setups

The JettyHawk was designed to support heavier rods often used in surf, shoreline, and large freshwater fishing setups. One of the most noticeable changes is the holster’s reinforced mounting system, which securely integrates with belts up to 2 inches wide. The closed-loop belt design provides a more rigid attachment compared to earlier configurations, reducing movement during long walks, climbing rocks, or fishing uneven shorelines.

This structural upgrade allows anglers using wider tactical belts, wading belts, or MOLLE-compatible systems to mount the holster more securely.

Another key engineering change is the 70-degree tube angle, which positions the rod in a balanced orientation that helps keep the rod clear of the body while supporting heavier rod weights.

Expanded Rod Compatibility

JettyHawk is designed to support rod handles up to 1⅝ inches in diameter, making it compatible with a wide range of rod types, including larger spinning rods and surf setups.

This increased capacity expands compatibility beyond many freshwater-focused rod holders while still maintaining a compact profile at the belt.

The holster also features a flared entry channel, allowing rods to slide smoothly into position without catching on the reel arm. This design element improves reholstering speed while reducing wear on the rod handle.

Rugged Marine-Grade Construction

The JettyHawk body is built from corrosion-resistant, marine-grade polymer designed to withstand exposure to saltwater, sand, and harsh outdoor conditions.

The material is also UV-stable, helping the holster maintain strength and appearance during extended use in direct sunlight.

Reinforced brass eyelets and structural mounting points provide long-term durability while allowing accessory attachment options through the integrated side ports.

These construction upgrades position the JettyHawk as the most rugged holster currently offered by Pine 9.

Optional Belt-Less Clip System

In addition to standard belt loops, the JettyHawk supports optional metal belt-less clips. These clips allow the holster to attach directly to waistbands or lightweight gear setups where a traditional belt may not be present.

This mounting option expands compatibility with minimal gear systems while maintaining the holster’s stable positioning.

JettyHawk vs. Ambie: Key Design Differences

While both models share Pine 9’s core rod-holster concept, the JettyHawk introduces several structural upgrades compared to the Ambie model.

The Ambie holster remains a lightweight, versatile option designed primarily for freshwater rod setups and general fishing use. It features a streamlined profile and reversible carry configuration, making it adaptable for a wide range of everyday fishing situations.

The JettyHawk, by comparison, focuses on increased structural strength and rod capacity. The reinforced mounting system, larger rod compatibility, and angled support tube allow it to handle heavier gear while remaining stable during movement.

In short, Ambie emphasizes versatility and lightweight carry, while JettyHawk prioritizes structural reinforcement and heavy-duty use.

Fishing Rod Compatibility:

Not compatible — will not work with either model:
Pistol grip rods cannot be holstered. Trolling reels are not supported by either model.
Fly fishing — conditional compatibility:
Some fly rods will work, but only if there is at least 3 inches of hand grip behind the reel seat. Rods without sufficient grip behind the reel will not seat correctly.

JettyHawk vs. Pine 9 Hand-Crafted Holsters

Pine 9’s original holsters were individually hand-crafted models built in small batches. These early designs helped establish the core concept behind Pine 9’s wearable rod holster system.

The new JettyHawk incorporates lessons learned from those earlier builds while introducing refinements that are easier to scale for consistent production.

Compared to the hand-crafted models, JettyHawk features:

• improved structural mounting
• expanded belt compatibility
• increased rod handle capacity
• reinforced construction materials
• more standardized modular attachment options

While the hand-crafted holsters remain valued for their original design heritage, the JettyHawk represents the most technically advanced iteration of the system to date.

Designed for Modern Fishing Systems

The JettyHawk model was built with modern fishing setups in mind, including compatibility with tactical belts, MOLLE platforms, and wider wading belt systems commonly used by anglers today.

This adaptability allows anglers to integrate the holster directly into their existing gear systems without requiring specialized equipment.

The result is a holster platform that expands Pine 9’s lineup while maintaining the core design philosophy that launched the brand.
